Once data has been entered, it is often desirable, or even necessary, to transform it in some way before performing analysis upon it. At the very least, it’s good practice to check for errors.

• Identifying incorrect data
• Dealing with suspicious data
• Inverting negatively coded variables
• Testing data consistency
• Testing for normality
